50 AI Phrases to Ruin Your Content With

If you’ve used AI to write content before, you’ll be familiar with some “AI-isms”.

Generally speaking, they can be boiled down to three things:

Contextualising everything:

In the context of giving context, AI is the best at giving context…

AI adds context to everything. If you see a blog with the first line “In the realm/world/landscape of [subject]”, then there’s a good chance it was written with AI.

It’s annoying and makes blogs wordier than they need to be.

Passive voice

The passive voice is a way of writing where the focus is on the action being performed on the subject rather than who/what is performing the action. The opposite is active voice.

Passive voice: “The golf club was swung by Simon”.

Active voice: “Simon swung the golf club”.

AI is the master of passive voice, which makes for wordier and less engaging writing. You should always check for this.

Caution

AI hallucinates, meaning it generates fake or misleading information. To work around this, programmers coded in trepidation.

AI won’t say many things with certainty, so you’re more likely to get cautious insights - “some people might say” rather than “it is so”.

Avoid this, especially if you want to present yourself as an expert in your field.
